Receiving honourable mention - the Tri Ân Monument competition proposal serves as a gesture of gratitude, in the form of a landscape-memorial for the remembrance of those fallen in the Vietnam war.
Dispersed across a site of rolling hills, a ring path connects four primary elements in an offering, an overlook, a totem gallery, and rest area. The ‘offering’ being the primary space of contemplation, is a raised reflecting pool that spills a curtain of water along its edge, enveloping a waterfall space underneath. Below the pool a single pillar grows, engraved with the names of the fallen in memory of their sacrifice. The form and the names give shelter to visitors in a serene space where the surrounding sound of waterfall allows for peaceful reflection.
